  • Food Diary : Day 1

So I must accept the reality that I have gained 5 kilos in the past year – about 10 pounds.  Not quite the freshman 15, but I’m ready to get the weight off.  To be fair, I have not had access to the pool like I did in America, and the 3 hours of swim 5 days a week probably helped keep my weight down.

Since Christmas I’ve had a few attempts…that have worked at first…losing about 5 pounds…but the weight always came back quickly.  So I’m starting, really starting, today.

I am currently 65.4 kilo.  I will reach 60, my weight in America.  I will start dieting and jogging, and when I return to America I will get a gym membership with Markus and either workout or swim daily.

    Food Diary, Day 1

    Intake

    B : Strawberries 60 cal

    L : Potatoes 114 cal, Deer (85 g lean) 128 cal, Soup 53 cal, Egg 101 cal

    D : Kellogs (30 g) with milk (100 g skim) 173 cal, Kiwi 46 cal, Roasted Pepper (100 g) 135 cal

Sweets: Schoki 50 cal, Ice Cream (100 mL) 140 cal

    Total : 1000 cal

    Workout

    Elyptical (20 min, 3 km) – 174 cal

    Total : – 174 cal

Not bad for the first day – the ice cream was a special treat from my hostsister, not a regular thing.  As long as I keep my calories under 1200 a day, I should lose 1 kilo a week.  I just want to make sure I’m also eating healthy, not just less!  Wish me luck!

  • lol I guess German food is really good. Make sure you don’t go much lower than 1200 calories, otherwise you’ll feel like dirt. Also, dieting is good when you are 30 pounds over weight, but for the last five, you really need to do some kind of exercise, even if it is just 10 minutes a day (because otherwise your body will get out of balance and you won’t be healthy)

  • @phantomFive - I’m not technically rated as overweight, but I could have lost about 5 pounds before I even came.  I’m going to get rid of this 10 and then fight for the last 5.  But I am definately more into exercise – its just hard to get a chance with the work schedual and lack of good transportation the past year.  When I get back to the states I have no excuse left ha.

And yeah I am going to try and keep it between 1000-1200.  Hopefully I stick to it.

German food is fricking amazing.  But I think its all the bread and potatoes and noodles they eat that did me in.

  • Good luck! and yes, German food is really heavy and hearty.

    I <3 Schoki

  • @GreekPhysique - Agreed!  Plus I think its normal to gain weight when confronted with new foods.

  • It doesn’t matter, technical and all that, as long as you are happy. It’s about getting the body and fitness level that you want. It’s all that matters.

  • @sonnigenmai - Ja da hast du Recht, ich versuche schon wenige Brot zu essen und dafür morgens Müsli mit Obst und dann abends vielleicht Joghurt mit Obst.
