  • Baby Names

I found myself in deep conversation with my mum tonight about names for future children.  Family names, pretty names, odd names, traditional names, etc.  I have a few I really like:

    • Helena Lucille
    • Anne Margaret
    • Martin Luther
    • Luke Tobias
    • Claira Renee
    • Danielle Jean

I also like Dixie, Alexandria, Loretta, Jackson, Mark, William, Lee, Jenny

She made fun of me by pointing out my ‘southern roots’.  Hmf.  I think they are all strong names, most of them family names as well.  I could go further back to German, Polish, and Russian roots.  In example I really like the name ‘Nikhil’…but there is also a ‘Raspberry’ in my family tree…yikes!

What are your children’s names, or names you wish to name future children?  Is there a story or meaning behind them?

  • I love those names. Especially, Martin Luther, Anne Margaret, and Luke Tobias. My May and her southern roots, lol. I love you.

  • I’ve always wanted to use family names, too… such as John, Robert, and Marie. I was named after my great grandmother (middle name… Irene) and I love it even though you don’t hear the name very much anymore. I definitely want to use Maire and Robert… because they have been used several time, and I want to keep it going. What I name my children, though, will have a lot to do with who I marry, since I am sure my husband will want to use names from him family, too.

  • @Viktor_schimdt - lol I love you too liebchen.

@SkyL1ght - Exactly :D   I like the name Irene.  It is very pretty!!!

  • I love the name Evan.  I’m not sure what I’ll name my kids when they get here.

  • I like Helena Lucille.

I’m thinking about naming my children Charlotte Elizabeth, if it’s a girl, and Nathaniel James, if it’s a boy. I should let my future husband decide, too, maybe… haha

  • The only thing we have picked out for sure is middle names for the first 2 children!  The first will have Jim’s middle name.  It is his grandmother’s maiden name.  The second will have my maiden name.  We will have to figure out something else if we have more than 2!

  • I love your name choices!  They are all very elegant and unique!  Carmen Dio, Abianne Luna Ryela, Evalie Sarus Rose, Olivus Dominic Androme, Onnika Ave Maria, and Xavien Lee… Telling all our name choices would turn into a short story!  Its kind of like a chex-mix process… we used a few family names, a few favorites, and some songs.

  • I like your names…

I can never decide on names.  I guess I don’t really have to decide until I have kids.  I have some individual names I like, but I just don’t want my kids to have tyipcal names like all the other kids.

  • I believe in giving a name that will give the child something to live up to. Named after someone who was extraordinary in some way that I admire, like after my father, who was a Colonel  in the Air Force. Or my other son who I named after a Biblical Character because I wanted him to have a name with promise! My wife’s Indian roots cause her to name our children after they have been around a while and sometimes those names stick better because they are based on who they have grown to become. It a neat tradition that her family has acquired.

  • @petitenoirtenue - Evan is a strong name!

@lollarious - Hey, who has to carry the baby for 9 months?  ;)   Okay so he’ll spoil you rotten and probably deserves some say in the baby’s name…maybe the spelling…maybe…I love the name Charlotte too!  Ahh so classic.

@der_lila_Stern - -laughs- are you hoping for more than two?

@Madre_Pequena - Abianne really stuck out…its so unique but it sounds very proper and pretty!  You should write the stories of all their names!

@NoPenniesHere - mmhmm!  Its no fun to share the same name with half of your graduating class :(   Good luck with them!

@Knight_of_Renown - That is a neat tradition!  My family are big believers of the Bible names and family names, too.  I’m a Margaret (my father’s mother) Jean (my mother’s and grandmother’s middle name), my brother is an Adam (first man) Andrew (father’s name), etc.  What are the Indian names to which you refer, I am curious?

  • @sonnigenmai - I havent really decided.  We will see what happens when we get that far! Im not hoping for any for at least another year! lol
